The Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs (OPEN) Silicon Valley was launched in 2001. OPEN is a voluntary, not-for profit organization dedicated to the promotion of entrepreneurship and leadership in the Pakistani-American business community. Established in Boston in 1998, OPEN has chapters in Boston, Houston, New York, Chicago, Silicon Valley, and Washington DC.

Silicon Valley stands alone at the pinnacle of innovation and productivity. The entrepreneurial spirit soars in Silicon Valley. This has always been a place where a risk-taker with an idea can create a global industry that transforms the way we live. Nowhere else are ideas generated in such large numbers, with such astounding success, as they are in Silicon Valley. Silicon Valley is home to thousands of hi-tech companies, notable among who are Intel, Oracle, Hewlett Packard, Adobe, Apple, Silicon Graphics, Cisco Systems, Sun Microsystems, Yahoo, and Google. It is also home to world acclaimed universities and research centers, such as Stanford University, UC Berkeley, Stanford Research Institute, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center. Finally, Silicon Valley is also home to almost half of the venture capital firms in the United States including world renowned firms such as Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Benchmark Capital, Sequoia Capital, and Mayfield Fund.

Our Objectives

OPEN is an inclusive organization, focused primarily on the promotion of entrepreneurship and business leadership. OPEN Silicon Valley community is several thousand-strong, and includes corporate professionals, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and banking professionals, social leaders, academics and students.

• OPEN Silicon Valley promotes entrepreneurship through regular mentorship and networking initiatives.
• For 2010, OPEN Silicon Valley has planned over two dozen targeted and hands-on mentorship workshops, networking mixers, panel discussions and a day-long global business conference - OPEN FORUM 2010 (scheduled for June, 2010).
• Given the valley's leadership in technology and entrepreneurship, OPEN Silicon Valley has championed significant global initiatives, including supporting entrepreneurship and the technology sector in Pakistan.
